For several weeks now, Emily has been bothering me to go camping...well she finally got her chance this weekend. I got a couple of guys together from the shop and we headed out to the beach (in the rain) to camp for the weekend. Emily was so excited to go!
We showed up at the beach around 7:30 pm on Friday night and it was raining buckets! We had rented a small camper from the base so we were set...except a friend of ours had a huge camper (with heat) so Emily and I stayed in that instead. A couple of Emily's friends were out there so she got to run around all night with them..she was pooped and crashed at about 11 pm.
On Saturday, the rain was gone and it was a gorgeous day out! We spent the day playing on the beach, fishing and playing games. We also borrowed a friends 4-wheeler and Emily got to go for a couple rides on that up and down the beach, and she loved it!! We brought Chloe along and we had a great time throwing the ball in the freezing Alaskan waters while watching Chloe fetch it with out hesitation. Chloe had a great time and was so tired she slept in the camper for hours! We finished up the night with a bonfire and smores (which Emily missed out on because she passed out from exhaustion) and some leftover fireworks from the 4th of July.
Sunday morning came around, and I think Emily was ready to go...she seemed tired, pretty cranky and lazy. She took a nap for several hours late in the afternoon. I spent the afternoon fishing for halibut just off the beach in a small inflatable pontoon boat (we launched the boat through the surf, like the Navy SEALS do...it was awesome). We loaded up the Jeep and headed home around 4:30pm, making it home by about 6, just in time to eat dinner with Tracy and Ethan!
Tracy had a nice relaxing weekend alone with Ethan; she had a great time playing with him and was able to catch up on alot of things. While Emily and I missed them camping this weekend, it seemed to work out great for all of us!
