Carving Pumpkins

Wednesday Night was carving Pumpkin Night!

We bought pumpkins a few weeks ago from the local WalMart; and just to give you a rundown of "Kodiak Pumpkins" -- WalMart sold them for $6.99 each, no matter the size - VS. - Safeway for $18.99 each!  WalMart's pumpkins sold out in 3 days...Safeway still has pumpkins, and now is the ONLY place to actually buy a pumpkin on the island.

So, the minute I caught word that WalMart had pumpkins we were on the island, we were there that night picking out 4 pumpkins.  Given, this was about 3 weeks ago...and pumpkins cannot be carved too soon because they get really moldy really quick here in Kodiak.  So, we waited until now to carve those suckers.

Emily had a blast.  She designed a pumpkin face and here and daddy drew it together and cut it together...so sweet!  Her pumpkin had heart-eyes and all! (her idea!)

Ethan, on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with carving the pumpkin!  He wanted to stab the thing to death repeatedly with the pumpkin-safe knife.  Mommy and Ethan tried to carve his pumpkin, but anytime mommy would try to help, Ethan would begin to scream and cry...his jack-o-lantern ended up nicely, but it was a pain in the butt to work with him on this!

Here are a few more pictures in an album:
